The Eternal Daughter (12A)

  • Gloucester Guildhall 23 Eastgate Street Gloucester UK (map)

96 mins

Directed by: Joanna Hogg

Starring: Tilda Swinton, Carly-Sophia Davies, Joseph Mydell

From The Souvenir director Joanna Hogg and executive produced by Martin Scorsese, The Eternal Daughter stars Tilda Swinton in the dual roles of an artist and her elderly mother confronting long-buried secrets together as they return to a former family home, now a hotel haunted by its mysterious past.

Featuring a towering, deeply moving performance from Swinton, Hogg’s beguiling film is dressed as a gothic thriller, with swirling mist, looming shadows and ghostly presences galore. Beautifully composed and intricately layered, it’s a captivating study of motherhood, memory and loss.
