Beyond spoken word. Pushing poetry to its limits with an evening of punk attitude and serious grooves.
DEAD ANYWAY
Petulant indie Trip-Hop from Kate Arnold (lyrics) and Marc Symonds (loops and drums). The duo have released four albums and five EPs since 2019 and enjoyed extensive radio play in the US and on BBC 6music. They are are joined on stage for their debut home town outing by life long friends, Nicola Cudby sax/keys siren and Simon ‘Banana Club’ Robinson-Trousers, providing a truly trouser-wobbling bass.
THE IRRATIONAL LIBRARY
Dutch-American band The Irrational Library has its roots firmly planted in regional and international counterculture: the socio-politically engaged poetry of ‘unofficial city poet of Haarlemtown’ Joshua Baumgarten on a musical freight train of tight melodies and psychedelic improvisations. A raw, dirty groove heavily influenced by icons of beat, provo- and punk culture. Think The Minutemen or Gil Scott Heron. ‘The party protest band for modern times’.
RICK & RUDIE
ElectRick on the beats and idiosyncratic electronica of all kinds, Magickejansen sings, shouts and talks Amsterdam. Chatter Beer. Dance Dance Dance then! Everything in their own Dutch language.
