Urban ambitions clash with nature in a quiet village near Tokyo in this eco-fable from Oscar and BAFTA-winning director Ryusuke Hamaguchi (Drive My Car).
Deep in the forest of a small rural village near Tokyo, single father Takumi (Hitoshi Omika) lives with his young daughter Hana (Ryo Nishikawa) and takes care of odd jobs for locals. But the overpowering serenity of their lives amid this untouched paradise is disrupted by the arrival of Tokyo company Playmode, about to start construction on a glamping site for city tourists – a plan that will have profound consequences for the ecological health of their community.
