Experimenting with vocal improvisation techniques using the theme of FREEDOM with Chris Cundy.
Anyone can join this vocal orchestra. We will work with voices, and other sound making objects. This is not an orchestra in any conventional sense. We encourage an inventive and experimental soundworld which is all about group participation. All of these methods encourage an element of surprise, give space for musicians to listen to each other, and enable a shared communal experience to emerge.
Multiverse is an artist-led group who are developing their practice using the voice as a means of collective expression and to improve confidence and wellbeing. They want to invite others to join a series of creative workshops so they can also share their practice with communities. Every workshop will explore the theme of FREEDOM using the voice in different ways. Workshops are free and participants can join as many workshops as they want to. All abilities and identities are welcomed and celebrated!
Chris Cundy explores music where improvisation and composition meet, drawing on self-developed playing techniques such as multiphonics, circular breathing, and microtonal voicings. He directs Mutata Radio Orchestra which is made up of some of Europe’s leading free improvisation and contemporary classical players and has written site-specific works which have recently been performed at The Roman Baths in Bath and for a number of other regional museums and heritage sites.
